FAQ

We're boring. I'd like photos, but my kids are wild and chaos happens.

I will be the first to tell you I've been there. I'm there now. We make photos where everyone comfortable. In home. They're happy to show me their space, proud to tell me about their favorite things, I document them in a way that's organic. I let them see the camera. I let you see things are going well.  It's totally fine not to have every photograph saying look at me look at me. The images are deeper than that. You guys relax, let them show off a little and it makes real life look interesting.

What about a messy home?

I get it and the pressure to have it all picked up before someone comes with a camera. You do what you want to be able to relax. But, I wont be looking to document your mess... just your stories.

If you don't love the clutter just put that part away. AND even better let's go outside for a walk. Let's do something. Unscripted doesn't mean unplanned.  Very opposite actually. We want a plan for things you do together normally and photograph those things happening.

FAQ

Do you pose us at all?

Yes and No.     A goal for each family is to make a posed image at the front door.   I do create beautiful posed work built into this candid and familiar family setting.

No traditional posing inside the home—but I will gently guide when needed.

I won’t ask you to smile at the camera or place your hands a certain way. Instead, I may offer light guidance to help with flow or lighting, then step back and let moments happen naturally.

This allows your photos to feel natural, connected, and true to who you are—rather than something you had to “do right.”

What do you offer for military events?

Let me bullet point some options:

  • Promotion
  • Pre-Deployment Memories
  • Change of Command
  • Retirement
  • Homecomings

FAQ

What if nothing special happens during our session?

The truth is—everything you’re living right now is special, even if it doesn’t feel that way yet. Ordinary moments like folding laundry, nursing your baby, or walking out the door for school often become the images families treasure most years later.

You don’t need a plan or a performance. Just show up as you are. The beauty is already there.

what if my kids don't cooperate or have big emotions?

That’s not only okay—it’s expected.

Children don’t need to perform or behave a certain way during a documentary photography session. Big feelings, movement, quiet moments, and silliness are all part of your family’s story.

Some of the most meaningful images come from moments that feel imperfect in the moment but tender in hindsight. My role isn’t to fix or control the experience—it’s to honor it as it is.
